McArthur welcomes grid consultants

Liberal Democrat Energy spokesperson Liam McArthur MSP has welcomed the appointment of consultants to investigate grid connections in the Pentland Firth.

This will help further develop the marine energy industry in the area.

Commenting, Mr McArthur said:

"I am pleased that consultants have been appointed to investigate ways of connecting the renewable energy produced in the Pentland Firth with the national grid.

"Xero Energy is lucky that they can draw on the wealth of experience available locally. For instance, my own constituency, Orkney, boasts a world class cluster of marine renewables companies with proven expertise in grid-related issues."
