Commenting on the Justice Secretary's latest visit to a Scottish brewery where he has called for collective effort to tackle Scotland's alcohol problems, Liberal Democrat Justice spokesperson and Glasgow MSP Robert Brown said:
"Whilst Kenny MacAskill continues on his visits around Scotland's alcohol industry, he would do well to reflect on the lack of detail available about the SNP's controversial alcohol proposals.
"The Justice Secretary's charm offensive will only go so far when neither the industry nor the public have any substantive detail on what is being proposed by the Scottish Government. The Alcohol Bill should be published as soon as possible for full consultation.
"The call for a collective effort to tackle the scourge of alcohol is all well and good, but it must be based on the right policies from the start.
"Liberal Democrats want to work productively with the Scottish Government on sensible and realistic measures to tackle the country's relationship with alcohol."
