Commenting on Professor Lindsay Paterson's criticism of the Curriculum for Excellence, Liberal Democrat Education spokesperson Margaret Smith MSP said:
"The SNP have mishandled the introduction of the Curriculum for Excellence right from the start. They've rightly delayed it so they could get it right but it's clear Professor Paterson and others think they've still got it wrong.
"There is a lack of clarity for teachers and particularly for parents and pupils as to what this new approach will mean in practice and how it will be reflected in examinations.
"It remains to be seen how Curriculum for Excellence will be delivered when the SNP have lost a thousand teachers since they came to power two years ago."
