Commenting after the announcement that Scottish skies are now open for business local Liberal Democrat candidate Jean Davis said; "It's good news that the skies are open again not least for the thousands of travellers who have been stranded. It will take some time to get things back to normal and this must be the priority. However when this has been achieved some serious questions need to be asked."
"Not least what was the actual risk to lower flying propeller planes servicing the Western Isles. This morning Lord Adonis reiterated his concerns as to the effect of the ash cloud on jets, but what was the risk to our services. He made no mention of this."
"We need to know the answers and we need to know them soon so that we can plan. The volcano is likely to continuing erupting for some time and we rely on our lifeline services."
