Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie has written a further letter to Permanent Secretary Sir Peter after Scottish Government plans to run "independence workshops" for civil servants were uncovered.
Mr Rennie has demanded that the head of the Civil Service call time on the creeping politicisation of the service which is a clear infringement of the Civil Service Code of "integrity, honesty, impartiality and objectivity."
Commenting on the "independence workshops", Mr Rennie said:
"Alex Salmond and his ministers are systematically undermining the independence of our civil service. This time its training staff attack on the UK Government and hunt for reasons to justify independence.
"This politicisation is deeply damaging. Civil servants will be anxious that they are being misused.
"The SNP won a mandate to hold a referendum on independence - that's all. The mandate is not for independence itself so the use of the civil service to break up the UK is way beyond what people voted for.
"Sir Peter Housden, the Permanent Secretary, will be getting yet another letter from me. I want to know why he is letting Alex Salmond away with this".
